French Blog #9 – Painting the Petit Cabanon

One of my favorite painting subjects in France is the “petit cabanon”.  This year, there is a lavender field in front of this petit cabanon.

For this scene, I am using a panel that is 8″ x 16″.  The panel is primed gray and I am using burnt sienna to draw on my sketch.

I worked directly over it with my first “lay in” of color.   I plan to return to finish.

Another petit cabanon that I have painted before:

Another petit cabanon that I have painted before is in a village called Soau, at the foothills of the French alps.  I took the workshop group to this location.
